Renewal Arts is an international network of artists and those passionate about the arts from different disciplines, cultures and beliefs. It was created in 1997 by a group who had been inspired by the ideals of Initiatives of Change, a global organisation open to people of all cultures, nationalities, faith traditions and beliefs who work towards change, locally and globally, starting with change in their own lives.
Frank Buchman, the founder of Initiatives of Change, saw a role for artists as the bearers of the banner of spiritual regeneration in a world where political priorities had been misplaced and personal change was an untried commodity.
The major activity of the network has been a series of international forums at the Initiatives of Change conference centre in Caux, Switzerland between 1997 and 2008. Since then there have been more local events such as supportive lunches for artists, weekend experiences and open houses as an introduction to Renewal Arts. At Caux there have been two new major activities since the last forum led by members of Renewal Arts and in conjunction with it: the Caux Artists Program and Seeds of Inspiration. For more information read the News and Events pages.
How we are organised We have a core team of people who have volunteered to guide the strategy of Renewal Arts to and to make decisions. The team aims to meet once a year and otherwise to keep in touch by email and authorise activities in the name of Renewal Arts. Individuals volunteer to organise events and activities. A few people in the team have been appointed by the team to be contact people for communicating with the team, the database and the website, who are also volunteers. Funding is provided by voluntary contributions and for projects we apply for help from organisations sympathetic to the aims of Renewal Arts.
We have a short constitutional document which is available on request. In several countries we have set up legal bodies to help us manage funding and finances. Details of these are on our contacts page.
